TMA Component System & Data Reduction Software - Features & Benefits

Benefits Of The TMA Component System

The TMA Component System is designed to promote optimal performance and streamline workflow in laboratories performing TMA-based assays. The equipment simplifies TMA assay processing, offering several benefits:

  • Rapid Results
Generates up to 100 test results in less than 5 hours with minimal hands-on time. Automated signal generation and rapid detection contribute to the speedy turnaround of reportable results.
  • Flexible Throughput
Processes from 10 to 100 tests, enabling both small runs and high throughput testing on a single system.
  • Efficient Workflow
Reduces the waste and cost associated with consumable materials by performing all steps of the assay in a single tube, e.g. sample processing, target capture, amplification and detection.
  • Complete Packaging
Simplifies order entry and installation. All laboratory equipment/supplies needed to set up a laboratory are packaged together as a complete system.

TMA Data Reduction Software

Siemens' TMA Software enables operators to produce reports and to export data to a Laboratory Information System (LIS). Additional capabilities include:

  • Data Reduction
Automatically reduces raw data, distinguishing between internal controls (flasher signal) and the analyte within patient samples (glower signal). Reportable results are expressed in relative light units (RLU).
  • Detailed Reports
Indicates whether controls are valid or invalid, and whether samples are reactive or non-reactive, thus simplifying interpretation.

System Adminstrator Privileges

For heightened system security, access to sensitive features of the TMA Data Reduction Software is limited to the laboratory's System Administrator (SA). Using a secure ID and password, the System Administrator may modify the configuration and customize various aspects of the system:

  • Site ID Customization of Reports
Enables reports to be customized to meet specific client needs, offering more personalized service.
  • Access to Test Protocols
Allows limited modification of test variables, e.g. setting number of calibrators during set up.
  • Access to Data
Allows interaction with worklist text files, electronic reports, and archived files to override errors and produce more accurate reports.
  • LIS Connectivity
Export program enables correction of errors and selection of data fields for export. SA Manual defines details of data structure.

Components Streamline Processing

Highly regarded for its sensitivity, preliminary clinical research results suggest that TMA HCV assay technology may be useful to confirm active viral infection and to verify sustained response to therapy. With the flexible Siemens® TMA Component System, laboratories can implement streamlined TMA testing and produce results rapidly.

Luminometer

The Siemens Luminometer HC+ allows positive sample tracking and automates signal generation and detection. An integrated barcode scanner reads the identity of each Ten Tube Unit (TTU). Internal pumps automatically inject detection reagents into each tube, producing a chemiluminescent signal that is measured by the instrument. Expressed as RLUs, the data are automatically sent to the TMA Data Reduction Software for analysis. Results are automatically displayed on the monitor and printed as a report. The Siemens Luminometer HC+ produces and detects chemiluminescent reactions. The Luminometer, TMA Data Reduction Software, computer system, color printer, printer cable, UPS/power conditioner, and Operator's Manual are included with the TMA Component System. An optional barcode scanner for specimen ID entry is also available.
